The A24 Backrooms originated from a simple yet eerie concept: what if you found yourself in an endless maze of empty rooms? This idea began circulating on the internet, particularly within forums dedicated to horror and urban legends. The concept of the Backrooms became popularized through a post on 4chan, describing a setting that one could accidentally "noclip" into, akin to glitches in video games where characters pass through walls.

As the idea gained traction, it evolved into a rich lore involving various levels, each with unique characteristics and terrifying entities. The Backrooms are often depicted as a labyrinth of sterile, yellow-tinted halls filled with the hum of fluorescent lights, creating a disorienting atmosphere. This unsettling environment taps into primal fears of isolation and being lost.
