Differential equations are mathematical equations that describe how a quantity changes with respect to one or more independent variables. They are used to model a wide variety of physical phenomena, including the motion of objects, the flow of fluids, and the growth of populations.

• Modeling

Differential equations are used to model a wide variety of physical phenomena, including the motion of objects, the flow of fluids, and the growth of populations. For example, a differential equation can be used to model the trajectory of a projectile, the flow of water through a pipe, or the growth of a population of bacteria.

• Analysis

Differential equations can be used to analyze the behavior of physical systems. For example, a differential equation can be used to determine the stability of a system, the sensitivity of a system to changes in input parameters, or the optimal control strategy for a system.

4. Mathematical Modeling

Mathematical modeling is the process of creating a mathematical representation of a real-world system. This representation can be used to analyze the system's behavior, make predictions, and design control strategies.

• Creating Models

The first step in mathematical modeling is to create a model of the system being studied. This model can be a set of equations, a computer program, or a physical prototype.

• Validating Models

Once a model has been created, it must be validated to ensure that it accurately represents the real-world system. This can be done by comparing the model's predictions to experimental data.

• Using Models

Once a model has been validated, it can be used to analyze the system's behavior, make predictions, and design control strategies.
